VoluBill's next generation prepaid solution enhances the mobile experience for CELCOM's Malaysian subscribers
March 23th, 2005 - Paris France - Volubill announced today that Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad, the premier mobile telecommunications company in Malaysia, has implemented its prepaid data solution giving 3 million subscribers access to the full range of Next Generation messaging services.
VoluBill's Dialog Control and Charging Platform (D2CP) supports pre-delivery charging of data and content services. Integrated with LogicaCMG's Intelligent Network Platform (INP) for voice and its Pre-Delivery Service Agent (PSA), the D2CP opens up access for prepaid subscribers to General Packet Radio Services (GPRS) and Multimedia Message Services (MMS). The total package simplifies the user experience and involves a single monetary balance for all transactions and services used.
The combined solution also enables Celcom to introduce a wider range of competitive marketing incentives, including easy top-up options via SMS and promotional tariff plans.
"We're seeing great market traction in Asia at the moment and this deal really solidifies our foothold here. Operators are keen to have clarity and control over how the data traffic and content are being charged and, when they can offer both, the user experience is much improved," said Alain Lefebvre, VP of Marketing and Strategic Alliances at VoluBill.
"Malaysia's prepaid market is set to boom over the next few years, therefore we need to replace our previous system with a scalable solution that will let us cater for a rapidly growing customer base. Having worked with LogicaCMG in other areas of our business, their INP is the logical choice for Celcom. This will enhance our customer service and continue to delight our customers" said Zubir A. Rasid, Senior Vice President of Customer Management Group and Mobile Data, Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad."
André Meyer, Chairman and CEO of VoluBill said "VoluBill has reached a level of maturity both in terms of products and services which allow the company to become a trusted provider of large equipment infrastructure vendors like LogicaCMG".
Prepaid subscribers represent 86 per cent of the total 12.6 million mobile subscribers in Malaysia. This number has been growing steadily since its introduction in 1998 and, since December 2003, another 1.2 million prepaid subscribers were added.
