Smart Traffic Management Explored As Potential Solution to Mobile Data Explosion

DPI & Policy in Mobile Networks: Smart Traffic Management, hosted by Heavy Reading senior analyst Graham Finnie, will explore how increasingly-intelligent policy control solutions assist in solving network congestion and revenue challenges.
Ericsson recently released a report stating that December 2009 was the first time that the volume of mobile data traffic globally outweighed voice traffic across operators’ networks, affirming the extent of the mobile data explosion. During the same month, reports surfaced that operators’ network management and pricing practices were unable to deliver proportionate revenues for the amount of data being consumed, compromising their ability to remain profitable.
“This webinar is proving timely,” said John Aalbers, CEO of Volubill. “Operators can either keep using flat-rate pricing models that turn them into ‘dumb pipes,’ or they can start to make their networks more intelligent and use that data to solve some key challenges.
