Overview

Volubill Network System (VNS) Service Controller is a real-time router-based deep packet inspection, service control, quota monitoring and dialogue management platform. It handles customer usage of any IP service including data, content, MMS, P2P, Voice over IP (VoIP), video, downloads and messaging.

VNS Service Controller supports:

• Introduction of segmented data services and charging models (i.e. service based on capacity, quota, time, throughput, application/traffic type, destination, etc).
• Real-time and revenue-assured charging and control of pre-pay, post-pay and on-demand data customers.
• Metering based on flat-subscription, event, session, application, destination, location, throughput, usage thresholds, pre-priced content and QoS levels (plus more).
• Provision of multiple mechanisms for efficient and effective interactive dialogue with customers for payment management, advice of charge/service and service feedback.
• Seamless and rapid deployment that is independent of the core access network and integrates with existing charging, IN, policy and billing infrastructure
• 2.5G, 3G, LTE, WiMAX and fixed broadband/ISP networks standards.

Service Controller uses deep and shallow packet inspection to understand user data activity in perspective of service destination/source, service type or application content (Layer 7/8), protocols, bandwidth occupied, current location and traffic patterns. At the subscriber level VNS Service Controller is then able to initiate charging, monitor quotas, invoke dialogue, redirect / filter traffic and allow/deny service access.

VNS Service Controller is designed to be network independent and is located after network access gateways, such as GGSN/PDSN, ASN-GW and B-RASs, through a router-based connectivity. It interoperates with real-time charging, balance management and billing platforms to control and charge subscribers usage of the network.

When integrated with Volubill Business System, VNS Service Controller enables end-to-end real-time charging and control working across all data and service architectures. Alternatively, interfaces, standard adapters and SDKs enable full integration with existing Billing, IN and CRM systems for real-time charging.

VNS Service Controller enables service providers to:
