SURVEY REVEALS TRAFFIC-SHAPING AND OFFLOAD  ADOPTION TRENDS AS CSPs TACKLE THE CAPACITY CRUNCH

A new research report, commissioned by Volubill into the attitudes and adoption of offloading and traffic-shaping by Communications Service Providers (CSPs) has indicated that 53% of CSPs are still considering  deploying traffic-shaping techniques in order to delay the capacity crunch, and 97% expect to use them by 2013.

The survey also highlighted that offload techniques, whilst in the early-adopter phase, consist of a range of solutions that are being used singularly or in combination to alleviate the effects of demanding services such as video upon the radio network. 20% of those surveyed are using offloading techniques today, rising to 73% by the end of 2012.
